An under the radar gem, Chateau Belgrave is a Classifed Growth of superb quality that’s still amazingly affordable. SInce 1979 it’s been managed by the very accomplished Dourthe family who brought significant investment and a tireless quest for perfection. Sustainable and environmentally sensitive practices have merited Terra Vitis and High Environmental Value (HVE) certifications. The vineyard is 140 acres with 2 hillocks of deep gravel lying on clay subsoils, gravely-sandy soils and clay outcrop.This wine from the outstanding 2016 vintage is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine aged 12 months in oak barrels (34% of which are new) on fine lees.Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 94 points saying “This is an opulent wine, packed with ripe fruit, sweet tannins and ample acidity, all in balance.
