Here’s a screaming value offering from Vigneron Christophe Quebec. Christophe works a 10 acre plot in the village of Rauzan on the Right Bank, about 2.5 miles south of the Dordogne river. He is a 4th generation, old-school Bordeaux farmer, working the same soils his great-grandfather worked going back to 1908. Quebec starting working with famed winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt about 12 years ago, in order to help elicit his terroir’s unique expression of clay and limestone. Derenoncourt has helped produce more iconic Bordeaux wines than just about any winemaker in the world. After getting his start at Château Pavie-Macquin, his winemaking and consulting resume includes the likes of Domaine de Chevalier, Clos Fourtet, Canon-la-Gaffelière and Smith Haut Lafitte just to name a handful. Most recently Derenoncourt and his consulting team was hired by Francis Ford Coppola to work on the Napa Valley property Rubicon Estate Winery.
