Description
Located in the tiny village of Auxey Duresses in the Cote de Beaune, this sixth generation domaine has received recognition in the past 50 years as one of the top estates in the appellation. The family has been established in Auxey Duresses since the 1600s, while the estate dates back to 1830 when members of the family began to acquire their own parcels. Current winemaker Gilles Lafouge began working with his father in 1987 after years of schooling and various internships, eventually forming their own company in 1995.The vineyards are tended meticulously and the estate practices “lutte raisonnée, guided by using organic principles. The winery does not employ insecticides, grass rows are planted in the pinot noir vineyards to reduce erosion, no industrial products are used during the elevage, native yeasts only, and there is limited use of sulphur.
