Tasting Notes: Picking a favorite from its maker’s trio of first-rate, single-site 2018 Sauvignon Blancs is no easy task, but, by the smallest margin, Dragonette’s bottling from the Vogelzang Vineyard gets our nod as being at the head of an outstanding class. It plays to optimally ripened, melon and peach fruit with but hushed hints of dried herbs and takes on a marked sense of creamy richness from its fermentation and aging in oak. It is moderately full-bodied, solidly-structured and slightly fleshy in feel with the balance to grow for a good many years, and, if never other than convincingly varietal, it is more than capable of assuming Chardonnay’s usual role when the menu features richer, full-flavored foods. 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck “Possibly my favorite of the Sauvignon Blanc releases, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Vogelzang Vineyard has a more powerful, broad, concentrated style to go with lots of stone fruits, brioche, honeyed minerality, and sappy herbs. It’s possibly less complex than the Grimm’s Bluff release, but it’s simply beautifully balanced, layered, and textured on the palate.” 94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous. com “The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Vogelzang Vineyard is another compelling wine in this range. Here rich orchard and tropical fruit flavors meld with brighter more citrus and mineral-driven nuances in a Sauvignon Blanc that is incredibly complex and delicious. The Vogelzang is another superb wine from Dragonette.” 92 Points, Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine Final Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Case Production: Only 260 cases produced Hold Time: Enjoy now or hold up to 3 years Alcohol by Volume: 14.5% Cheers to another unique wine club find!
