Description
A cousin of the powerful and pricey Quintessa Cabernets, also made by the renowned and celebrated Huneeus family of Napa Valley, the Faust Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a deliciously dense red with notes of dark fruit and velvety tannins which will envelope you in its wonderfully luxuriant finish, at a far gentler price… The predominant Cabernet warrants serious meat dishes like lamb, beef and game, while the hint of Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot allow for slightly lighter fare, prepared robustly. For a crowd, this Faust is fantastic with a coffee- and pepper-rubbed rib roast. Serve it with a creamy potato gratin and sauteed spinach and the diner delight will follow naturally. Pan-seared lamb chops with a dark mushroom polenta will showcase the earthy side of this luscious Napa Valley Cab. If you’re in the mood for something a bit lighter, we love the rich character of this Faust Cab with pepper-crusted, grilled tuna. Pour another generous glass and enjoy it with a room temperature fresh mozzarella; you’ll be surprised at how well the two complement one another. If you prefer the sweeter option, that same glass will be perfect with bite-sized milk chocolate cups filled with dark chocolate mousse. Hooray for Cabernet!James Suckling: “Blackberry, blackcurrant, graphite and tar aromas. Crushed stone, too. Full-bodied, yet firm, fresh and bright with a creamy, crunchy finish. One of the best values in Napa appellation designated reds. Drink or hold.” Mar 2022Wine Spectator: “Lush, with boysenberry, plum and blackberry compote flavors liberally laced with licorice snap and sweet spice accents. Reveals a glimmer of graphite on the finish to keep it honest. For the hedonist crowd. Drink now.”Winery: “The Faust Cabernet is a blend of our estate vineyards in Coombsville and Rutherford and mountain sourcing in Atlas Peak, Mount Veeder and Howell Mountain. Intense yet fresh with juicy blue and black notes. Notes of dark chocolate and dried herbs seduce the palate while silky tannins and lifting acidity leads to a layered and lingering finish.”Bottle 750ml, cork Varietal82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit VerdotAlcohol 14.9%Aging100% French oak, 30% newRegionNapa Valley, California
