Grand Jardin 2020 Rose, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence

Description

Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence is located in the western section of Provence’s limestone lands in the south-eastern corner of France. Grand Jardin is made from grapes grown in the colder, more rugged and higher elevation vineyards within the hills of this appellation. Since the nights are cooler in these higher elevation vineyards, the grapes are picked about 2 weeks later than grapes located in Cotes de Provence, allowing gentler ripening and more natural acidity. A blend of 39% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cinsault and 5% Rolle (Vermentino), juice solids are circulated pre-fermentation to build depth and concentration. To achieve a well-balanced, diverse garden of flavors and aromas there are several different approaches to each fermentation. The vineyard lots are broken into parts using different yeasts, juice solids and lees treatments to make each tank slightly different-bringing a unique perspective to the final blend.
