If today is takeout or casual day, make it pulled pork sandwiches on toasted brioche rolls topped with pickled onions and some creamy coleslaw. The vinegary bite of the pork will hold hands with the juicy fruit and never let go. Feeling a little more fancy? How about a rosemary and garlic-crusted roast beef? Top off your glasses once more and savor them with a Basque Idiazabal sheep’s cheese. In other words, top vineyards were declassified. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins that are caressing and refined. Plenty of subtle berries, chocolate and walnuts. Tempranillo with garnacha, mazuelo and graciano. January 2021 release. Drink or hold.” Feb 2022Jeb Dunnuck: “The 2018 Muga Reserva is a similar blend and has pretty, slightly fresher notes of darker, almost blue fruits as well as violets, spring flowers, and cedary oak. More medium-bodied on the palate, it shows the fresher, elegant style of the vintage, has beautiful tannins, no hard edges, and outstanding length on the finish.”Winery: “This Reserva displays an attractive, medium-deep, ruby-red colour with some brick-red glints. The nose reveals delicious red and black fruit aromas, such as blueberries, plums and forest fruit, together with notes of liquorice and chocolate. Medium-bodied on the palate, the wine shows lovely balance with hints of roasted coffee beans, ripe fruit, silky tannins and a lingering finish. This Crianza can be enjoyed now, but it also has enough structure to be cellared for several years. This wine will go wonderfully with meat dishes, such as veal, as well as Iberico charcuterie and casseroles.”
