In the 19th century Pierre Bouree took over a wine business founded in 1864 in Gevrey-Chambertin and gave his name to it. Today, fourth generation nephews Bernard and Jean-Christophe Vallet carry on a well-established tradition of fine Burgundy production at Pierre Bouree Fils. Over the years they have acquired many vineyards and much of the wine now comes from estate vineyards. Their approach is a focus on quality with restricting yields for greater expression and no herbicide use. All the grapes undergo a careful triage. On release this wine was scored 94 points by John Gilman in his “View From the Cellar” publication. He said “The 2010 Bourée Corton ‘Renardes’ may be labeled simply at Corton tout court, as that is how it is stamped on the barrels in the cellar, but it will be the sole Corton from Maison Bourée in 2010, so whichever way it is labeled, it will be worth a special effort to find, as this is a beautiful wine in the making.
