Description
The Planeta family has been crafting wine on this site since the 1600’s. The Planeta Didacus Chardonnay is the culmination of that expertise. You’ll want to try it.Robert Parker, Jr.’s Wine Advocate: “This special wine is now in its third edition. The 2016 Sicilia Menfi Didacus is extremely smooth, beautiful and deep. This is a flagship wine-a new one-in Sicily that embraces both the exuberant fruit of the vintage and the careful oak regime and lees stirring obviously employed here with care and intelligence. The wine is ever-so smooth and creamy with those candied fruit aromas you get on a Sicilian cassata cake with the green marzipan crust. Four hectares of Chardonnay were panted in 1985, and the first vintage of numbered bottles was made in 2014. Didacus makes a very compelling case for the potential of icon-status white wine from Sicily. Drink 2019-2035.” Oct 2019Winery: “A pure expression of Chardonnay executed in a beautifully Burgundian style, complete with a sunny Sicilian twist. The wine shows precision and focus, yet it offers a generous array of stone fruit and floral aromas along the way. As the wine takes on more weight in the glass, it begins to reveal rounder and more opulent tones of Sicilian almond, candied fruit, orange peel, anise seed, and salty mineral tones that recall the soft sea breezes that wash gently over Menfi in the southern part of the island.”Bottle750ml, corkVarietal100% ChardonnayAlcohol13.5%Acidity5.20g/LpH3.25Aging10 months in 80% new, 20% 2014 Remond barriquesRegionSicily, Italy
