Description
Vinum is the first machine-made glass to based on the characteristics of grape varietal. The brand was developed in tasting workshops where the content commanded the shape. Vinum is executed in lead crystal, machine blown in Bavaria, Germany. Robert M. Parker, Jr.:”The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes are those made by Riedel. The effect of these glasses on fine wine is profound. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make.” Time Magazine: “The Riedel family has never stamped its name on a single bottle of wine. But over the past 50 years, this Austrian clan of master glassmakers has done more to enhance the oenophile’s pleasure than almost any winemaking dynasty.” Riedel: “Perfect for young, full-bodied (more than 12 percent alcohol), complex red wines that are high in tannin. This glass smoothes out the rough edges, emphasizing the fruit, allowing wines to achieve a balance that would normally take years of ageing to acquire. The generous size of this glass allows the bouquet to develop fully. The shape directs the flow of wine onto the zone of the tongue which perceives sweetness, thus accentuating the fruit and de-emphasizing the bitter qualities of the tannin.” Varietal use: Bordeaux (red), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Domina, Fronsac, Graves rouge, Listrac, Margaux, Medoc, Merlot, Moulis, Pauillac, Pomerol, St. Emilion, St. Estephe, St. Julien.
