Cortina is Seghesio’s dry-farmed low-vigor vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley. Cortina Zinfandel represents the peak expression of Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley. Named for the gravelly loam soils where this variety thrives, planted in 1942, every year it turns out remarkable Zinfandel at yields of only 1.5 tons per acre.For this 2019 all the grapes were hand-picked and sorted at the winery, gently destemmed and transferred to small open-top fermentors without being pumped. The fermentation on skins lasted from 7 to 10 days. Free run juice was drained and settled briefly before being transferred to barrels to complete malolactic fermentation.
