Owner of Vinalba Hervé J. Fabre, was born in Bordeaux. Seeing the incredible potential of the Argentine terroir, Hervé bought a number of Argentina’s oldest Malbec vineyards, planted in 1908 in Luján de Cuyo, near Mendoza. His Bordeaux background dictates an elegance and subtlety to his winemaking. The soils in the vineyards are stony, sandy loam and have good drainage. The vines grown in the foothills of mountain ranges, more than 3000 feet above sea level. The Malbec vines are 45 years old and the Touriga Nacional vines are 8 years old. The grapes are meticulously sorted in order to select the best grapes for this wine. Cold maceration takes for 5 days followed by fermentation in temperature controlled tanks. The blend is 80% Malbec and 20% Touriga Nacional and 60% is aged for 12 months in French oak.This wine scored 97 points and received a Platinum medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards.
